SUMMARY:World Teachers’ Day
DESCRIPTION:\nWorld Teachers‘ Day on October 5th honors teachers and teacher organizations making vital contributions to the education and development of our future leaders. If you think back to your school years, you are bound to think of at least one teacher who made a difference in your life.a\n\n \nWhy is World Teachers‘ Day important\nThe day provides the occasion to celebrate the teaching profession worldwide, take stock of achievements, and draw attention to the voices of teachers, who are at the heart of efforts to attain the global education target of leaving no one behind.\n \nHow to observe World Teachers‘ Day \n\nHighlight teacher’s accomplishments. If you’re an owner or leadership member of an early education or childcare center or school, there are some simple ways you can make teachers feel appreciated. Try presenting certificates of appreciation to teachers, substitutes, and any support staff. Recognizing one of your teacher’s hard work among their peers can go a long way.  You can also highlight different teachers on a bulletin board or newsletter throughout the week or month for various accomplishments, efforts, and good deeds. \n Attend UNESCO’s virtual events. \nEducation leaders can, for example, encourage students and their families to create videos expressing their gratitude for teachers and post them on social media, or hold a virtual town hall to better understand the challenges they face.\n\n\n \n____________________________________________________\nTip:\n\n\n\n\nAppreciate the reality of being a teacher. Contact a local school and volunteer your services to get an insider view of a day in the life of a school. Schools are busy places with lots of volunteers, think about what you can offer that’s a bit different. For example, maybe you like reading and could pass that passion on. Do you have a sport or musical skill you can share? Are you great at something that might inspire children? Have you climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, cycled a long-distance, danced on a stage, set up an apiary, saved wildlife. Children love stories, how good are you at telling them?\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n____________________________________________________\n\n\n\n\nResources\n\n\nDetails on the day \nHow To Celebrate World Teachers’ Day (A Guide)\n\nReference Sites\n\nUN and other international NGO\nNon-Profits website for the observance\n\n
