SUMMARY:World Food Day
DESCRIPTION:\nToday is Global Handwashing Day, a global advocacy day dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives.\n\n \nWhy is World Food Day important\nAs countries deal with the widespread effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, World Food Day 2020 will highlight how food and agriculture are an essential part of the COVID-19 response. World Food Day 2020 will call for global cooperation and solidarity to help the most vulnerable recover from the crisis. It will call on countries to build back better by making food systems more resilient and robust so they can withstand increasing volatility and climate shocks, deliver healthy and sustainable diets for all, and decent livelihoods for food system workers.\n \nHow to observe World Food Day\nWe can also use World Food Day to raise awareness about healthy diets and what our bodies need. In recent times, education has grown about healthy diets and what foods are good and bad for our bodies, but we are not there yet! World Food Day gives us a great opportunity to further education and awareness in this area.\n____________________________________________________\n\nTip:\n\nThe day is marked not only to celebrate the amazing food that we get to eat every day but to also spread awareness about those who struggle to get even one meal in a day.\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n____________________________________________________\n\n\n\n\nResources\nPlan a #WorldFoodDay Event\nPlan a World Food Day event online or respecting physical distancing, to help spread the word. FAO provides a range of promotional materials in several languages – a poster, a brochure, an event banner, web or social media graphics, or an Activity book for kids. Once you’ve put together an event, add it to the inventory of events happening around the world here.\nJoin the #WorldFoodDay Conversation Online\nYou can join the #WorldFoodDay conversation on social media by sharing the FAO’s free material on digital channels and by posting actions online. This is also a time to express your appreciation to #FoodHeroes – those who, throughout the crisis, have made sure that food makes its way from the farm to your table. \n \n\nReference Sites\n\nUN and other international NGO\nNon-Profits website for the observance\n\n
